Truck Driver Cited in Fatal Crash

BARTONVILLE — Illinois State Police ticketed a truck driver involved in a fatal accident Oct. 14 for disobeying a traffic control signal, it was announced Friday.
Michael Sikes, 39, of Bushnell was cited for that violation and for being overweight on axle, according to a State Police release.
Thomas Maher, 70, of Bartonville was pronounced dead Oct. 14 after a crash at McKinley (U.S. Route 24) and McClure avenues.
Sikes was driving a semi north on McKinley as Maher traveled east on McClure. The vehicles collided in the intersection and traveled north before striking a large pole.
State police continue their investigation.
